Chris Hemmings — Men's Therapist & Coach

Here's what one client had to say:

“Chris is exactly the person I needed when starting therapy. He's able to strike the balance between being personable and incisive, and managed the ultimate goal of guiding me to make the big discoveries for myself. He embodies the healthy masculinity I am striving for, which meant I felt secure throughout the healing process and there were lots of well-needed laughs, too. I wouldn't be in the deep, meaningful relationship I am in now without Chris's help.”

A little about me

I work as a therapist, coach and public speaker, helping men better understand their mental health, improve communication and build stronger relationships. Whether I'm working one-to-one in the therapy room or speaking to audiences, my aim is always the same: to create honest conversations that lead to meaningful change.

Alongside my private practice, I founded Men's Therapy Hub and M-Path, two organisations dedicated to improving men's mental health and emotional wellbeing. Through this work, I support more men and boys to access help, challenge unhelpful ideas about themselves and engage more openly with their emotional wellbeing.

Before retraining as a therapist, I spent over a decade as a BBC journalist and documentary maker, telling human stories and exploring the issues that shape our lives. Today, I bring that experience together with therapeutic insight through therapy, public speaking, workshops and advocacy across the UK and internationally.

I'm also the author of Be a Man, exploring the lasting impact of traditional ideas of masculinity on men and boys. Everything I do is driven by a belief that better conversations help people better understand themselves and those around them.

Areas of specific interest

I have experience working with clients with a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Relationships

From conflict to communication issues, we'll explore how you relate to others — and to yourself — to create connection in your life.

  • Anger

Anger often hides pain, shame or fear. Together we'll unpack where it comes from and how to express it in healthier ways.

  • Identity

If you are questioning what kind of man you want to be, or feeling stuck between expectations and your true self.

  • Substance abuse

Whatever the substance you're misusing, we'll work to understand what's driving the cycle and how to break it with compassion.

  • Low self-esteem

If your inner critic is loud or constant, therapy can help you challenge unhelpful beliefs and build a stronger sense of self.

  • Depression

When life feels heavy or flat, we can create a space for you to reconnect with yourself, your emotions and what brings meaning.

  • Anxiety

Exploring the roots of worry, overthinking and tension — and finding ways to feel calmer, more grounded and in control.

  • Emotional expression

If you've grown up being told to hide how you feel, we can work to unlearn that and reconnect you with your full emotional range.
